The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of the academic community by hosting a journaling workshop titled “Learning Boundaries Through Journaling: Nurturing Boundaries for a Healthy Self.” The workshop was attended by law students in Room B.5.2, Building B, on Tuesday (October 16, 2025) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. WIB.
As part of the Faculty of Law UGM’s Health Promoting University (HPU) program, this workshop was designed to help students understand the importance of personal boundaries amid the demands of academic studies, organizational activities, social relationships, and future pressures. Students often experience emotional exhaustion due to difficulty saying “no” and feeling burdened by the expectations of those around them.
This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by improving students’ mental health and well-being. Additionally, the workshop supports SDG 4: Quality Education by providing practical education on life skills that foster academic and social success. Furthermore, the Health Promoting University initiative at the Faculty of Law, UGM, reflects the implementation of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration in creating a healthy, inclusive, and sustainable campus ecosystem.
This workshop was led by Chaty as the main facilitator and moderated by Claudia Zulfiana, M.Psi., Psychologist (cand.), who also shared psychological perspectives on the importance of building healthy relationships with oneself and others. With a limited number of participants, the workshop atmosphere was warm, interactive, and reflective. Participants were provided a safe space to explore their personal experiences and took home practical strategies to begin setting boundaries in their daily lives.
As part of the Faculty of Law, UGM’s Health Promoting University initiative—launched in 2019—this event serves as a tangible manifestation of efforts to create a healthy, productive, and thriving campus environment. The program focuses on the physical and mental health as well as the holistic well-being of the entire academic community.
Through this Journaling Workshop, the UGM Faculty of Law reaffirms its role not only as a center for legal education but also as a space for holistic personal development for students. Efforts to maintain the mental health and well-being of the academic community are expected to serve as a strong foundation for producing graduates who are competitive, possess integrity, and are ready to face future challenges. This event also demonstrates the UGM Faculty of Law’s commitment to continuously delivering innovations that have a tangible impact on both students and the broader community.
