UGM continues to strengthen its identity as a World Class Research University (WCU). This is reflected in the various visits made by UGM delegations to reputable universities abroad. One such delegation visit was made to the Faculty of Law, University of Zurich, Swiss Confederation, held on Thursday, October 2, 2023.
The delegation was led by the Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K)., Ph.D., along with several other delegation members, including Dean of the UGM Faculty of Law, Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D., and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Partnerships at the UGM Faculty of Law, Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LL.M., LL.D. On this occasion, several partnership opportunities were discussed, including the organization of double degree programs for the Master of Laws program. The University of Zurich currently maintains 9 double degree partnerships at the master's level. Other partnership opportunities discussed included student mobility for master's students at both institutions, with potential to extend to final-year undergraduate students. Double degree opportunities were also explored for doctoral programs through Cotutelle and sandwich programs. To begin a more comprehensive partnership, the two institutions agreed to first pursue a student and staff exchange partnership over the coming year. It is hoped that this can serve as a stepping stone toward closer cooperation in the future.
The Dean of the UGM Faculty of Law warmly welcomed this partnership offer. She expressed her hope that this cooperation could further expand collaboration at the Universitas-21 (U-21) level, in which both the UGM Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Law, University of Zurich, are joint members alongside 19 other universities.
This partnership reflects one form of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - specifically Goal 4, Quality Education, and Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
