UGM Faculty of Law Holds Syawalan 1446 Hijriah, Strengthening the Values ​​of Togetherness and Diversity

The Faculty of Law of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) held a Syawalan and Halal Bihalal 1446 Hijriah gathering with the theme "Strengthening Fitrah, Diversity, and Brotherhood."The event, held in the UGM Faculty of Law Auditorium, took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2024. In addition to lecturers and administrative staff, the gathering was also attended by student representatives from the Law Organization (LO), the Student Organizations (LSO), the community, and invited guests.

This event served as a moment of reflection and a bond of togetherness for the entire UGM Faculty of Law community, including lecturers, students, administrative staff, and alumni. 

The event began with a recitation of the holy Quran by Qori (Quran reciter) Muhammad Fatkhur Rohman, who recited Surah Ali Imran, verse 133. The committee chaired by Dr. In his remarks, Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, delivered the Syawalan pledge and bid farewell to the Hajj pilgrimage. 

Next, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, UGM, Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D.ffered prayers and hopes for the smooth running of Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab's pilgrimage. In her remarks, Dahliana Hasan also encouraged the entire academic community to view the Syawalan moment as an opportunity to strengthen the values ​​of togetherness, diversity, and brotherhood. 

"We hold this Halal Bihalal moment every year as a gathering between ourselves, with the lecturers, educational staff, staff, and invited guests. We can ask for forgiveness, so that our steps will be light and our hearts will be filled with relief," she said.

Dahliana hopes that by opening the door of forgiveness, a clean and pure new chapter will also open, marking the beginning of positive interactions and collaborations to realize the future benefit of the UGM Faculty of Law.

The main event featured a sermon delivered by Ustadz K.H. Imam Syafi’i, S.Pd.I., M.M., who addressed the event's overarching theme. In his sermon, Ustadz Imam Syafi'i emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony in diversity and strengthening social and spiritual bonds among people. 

He also encouraged all attendees to maintain brotherhood, avoid division, and cultivate compassion among others, especially in the workplace and academic environment.

The event continued with a communal prayer led by Ustadz Imam Syafi'i. Following the sermon and prayer, the Dean of the Faculty of Law UGM symbolically presented souvenirs to Ustadz Imam Syafi'i and Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab. 

The event continued with a handshake session and a halal bihalal gathering as a symbol of mutual forgiveness and strengthening ties among faculty members. A friendly gathering and lunch concluded the series of Eid al-Fitr activities at the UGM Faculty of Law.

The 1446 H Syawalan and Halal Bihalal activities align with the values ​​contained in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and Goal 4: Quality Education. Through this moment of togetherness, the Faculty of Law UGM fosters a culture of peace, strengthens social relations, and builds an inclusive and participatory educational institution. The theme reflects a commitment to maintaining harmony in diversity, strengthening the value of tolerance, and strengthening social bonds among campus residents—all of which are important foundations in creating a just, peaceful, and sustainable society.
