On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a group of students from SMAIT Al-Ittihad for a study visit aimed at promoting quality education and increasing enrollment in higher education. The initiative aligns with the SDGs, particularly in the field of education, which emphasizes the importance of accessible and quality education for all.
The visit was designed to give the students of SMAIT Al-Ittihad an insight into the academic environment at UGM, particularly at the Faculty of Law. The students were highly enthusiastic about learning of the various programs on offer, the admissions process, and the overall student experience at one of Indonesia's leading universities.
Dr. Jur. Any Andjarwati, S.H., M.Jur., and Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, S.H., M.Si., served as the main speakers, sharing valuable information about the curriculum, the faculty's areas of expertise, and the importance of legal education in today's world. Their presentations highlighted the Faculty of Law's commitment to nurturing critical thinking and ethical practice among future legal professionals.
An interactive Q&A session gave students the opportunity to ask questions directly to faculty members, clearing up any doubts about the legal profession and the academic journey that awaited them should they choose to enroll at UGM.
Ike Trines Sari, S.I.P., served as the event's facilitator, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that all students had the chance to participate actively. She emphasized the value of visits like this in inspiring young people to consider higher education and to seriously think about the Faculty of Law as an option for their future.
The visit served not only as a promotional event for UGM, but also as an opportunity to encourage students to think critically about their educational choices. By introducing them to the academic rigor and opportunities available at UGM, the faculty hoped to increase enrollment from secondary schools such as SMAIT Al-Ittihad.
Furthermore, the UGM Faculty of Law is committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity in education. By reaching out to students from a wide range of backgrounds, the faculty aims to create a more equitable educational landscape — in alignment with the SDGs' goal of ensuring inclusive and quality education for all.
As the event drew to a close, the students expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and the wealth of information they received. Many left with a renewed interest in pursuing legal education, inspired by the faculty's commitment to excellence and the potential impact they could have in the field of law.
The visit marked a significant step toward building a culture of quality education and encouraging the next generation to engage with the legal profession. The UGM Faculty of Law continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of legal education in Indonesia, ensuring that students are prepared for the challenges of an ever-evolving society.
