UGM Faculty of Law Rises to 151 - 200 in QS World University Rankings 2026, Strengthening Its Global Standing in Law 30 March 2026

The Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) has once again achieved a landmark result on the international stage, rising to the 151 - 200 band globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 for Law & Legal Studies. The result marks a significant improvement from the three preceding years (2023 - 2025), during which the faculty consistently placed in the 201 - 250 band.

According to data from the QS World University Rankings by Subject: Law & Legal Studies 2026, FH UGM also holds its position among Indonesia's leading law faculties, standing alongside the country's top universities. Within the national ranking, UGM sits at 2nd place nationally

The rise in ranking reflects FH UGM's consistency in improving the quality of its education, research, and academic contributions to the field of law. The QS ranking is built on a number of key indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation for graduates, research productivity and impact through academic citations, and international research collaboration networks. The improvement therefore reflects not only the quality of teaching, but also the strength of FH UGM's research and its contribution to global legal scholarship.

This achievement also forms part of Universitas Gadjah Mada's sustained effort to strengthen its position on the international stage through continuous improvement of academic quality and the development of cross-disciplinary global partnerships.

The achievement aligns with FH UGM's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) -- particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), through the provision of internationally competitive, high-quality higher education. Contributions to the advancement of legal scholarship and research also support SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), by strengthening a legal system that is just, transparent, and grounded in knowledge. This achievement reaffirms the role of FH UGM as an institution of legal education with a meaningful contribution to sustainable development at both the national and international levels.
