UGM Faculty of Law and DIY High Prosecutor’s Office Civil Division Advance SDGs through Assistance in Drafting Sambirejo Village Regulations

On Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM WIB, a hybrid meeting was held at the Meeting Room of the UGM Faculty of Law’s Research Center. The Faculty of Law, represented by Dr. Airin Liemanto, S.H., LL.M., conducted an in-person consultation session on the drafting of a Village Regulation (Peraturan Kalurahan) in collaboration with the Civil and Administrative Law Division (Datun) of the High Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The session focused on reviewing the draft regulation concerning the establishment of Community Institutions within Sambirejo Village.

This activity is part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly community service, carried out jointly by the Datun team of the DIY High Prosecutor’s Office and Sambirejo Village. It also represents the Faculty of Law UGM’s contribution to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4 (Quality Education) through legal education on regulation-making; SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting the development of synergistic community institutions in Sambirejo; SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting inclusive institutional frameworks; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through enhanced cooperation between UGM Faculty of Law, the DIY High Prosecutor’s Office, and Sambirejo Village Government.

The session was attended by Dr. Airin Liemanto, S.H., LL.M., an expert in customary law, along with academic assistants Adetia Surya Maulana, Ruth Jessieca Margareth, and Sahl Radian Setyaki from the Faculty of Law UGM. They provided reviews and inputs on the draft regulation. Also present were Mr. Ye Oceng Almahdaly, S.H., M.H., and his team from the Civil and Administrative Law Division of the DIY High Prosecutor’s Office, as well as Wahyu Nugroho, S.E., M.B.A., the Head of Sambirejo Village, and his team, who will receive the assisted draft of the Village Regulation on Community Institutions.

Kegiatan ini merupakan implementasi pendampingan pembentukan Peraturan Kalurahan Sambirejo tentang Lembaga Kemasyarakatan Kalurahan yang diadakan secara rapat atau pertemuan luring dengan memberikan penjelasan secara langsung terkait hasil desk review draft Peraturan Kalurahan yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya oleh Airin Liemanto beserta tim. Substansi Peraturan Kalurahan yang di-review terkait dengan Lembaga Kemasyarakatan Kalurahan (LKK) di wilayah Kalurahan Sambirejo yang akan ditetapkan beberapa LKK baru sesuai perkembangan dan kebutuhan di Kalurahan Sambirejo. Pertemuan ini menjelaskan beberapa aspek teknis dalam pembentukan suatu Peraturan Kalurahan baik dari aspek formil maupun materiil agar tetap selaras pada payung hukum peraturan di atasnya seperti Peraturan Bupati, Peraturan Daerah Kabupaten, Peraturan Gubernur, Peraturan Daerah Provinsi, hingga Undang-Undang.

The coordination meeting between PKBH and the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office was productive and resulted in concrete action steps to be implemented. This meeting demonstrates the strong synergy and collaboration between UGM Faculty of Law and the Prosecutor’s Office and shows that this synergy are running very well in providing real and beneficial outputs for the community, particularly in delivering excellent, impactful, and meaningful community legal services.

Strengthening Substantive Justice: KMHLi UGM Discussion on Justifications and Excuses in the National Criminal Code

The Litigation Law Master’s Family (KMHLi) of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, held a public discussion on the conceptualization of justifications (alasan pembenar) and excuses (alasan pemaaf) in the National Criminal Code, titled “Justifications and Excuses: Whose Reasons?” on Thursday (30/4) at the Auditorium of Building B, Faculty of Law UGM. The event brought together academics and legal practitioners to examine Articles 31 to 44 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the National Criminal Code before approximately 100 participants.

UGM Faculty of Law Delegation Wins 2nd Place Nationally at the Sam Ratulangi Legal Writing Competition 2026

The Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), has once again achieved a notable accomplishment through its delegation—Salsabila Zita Amalia (2023), Cut Kayla Layyina (2023), and Fayyaza Naira Hafidz (2023)—who secured 2nd place at the Sam Ratulangi Law Writing Competition 2026, organized by the Legal Writing Center, Faculty of Law, Sam Ratulangi University. This national-level Legal Opinion competition carried the main theme “Legal Modernization in Addressing the Challenges of Digital Technology Towards an Inclusive and Adaptive Legal Ecosystem.”
