FH UGM Commits to Advancing the Healthy Campus Movement

FH UGM held a seminar titled “Health Promoting University Toward a Healthy Campus" on Friday, September 23, at the Auditorium of FH UGM. The event brought together several speakers actively involved in UGM's Health Promoting University (HPU) initiative. It opened with remarks from the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems, Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A.

The program continued with a presentation on "The Concept and Meaning of Health" by Prof. Dra. Yayi Suryo Prabandari, M.Si., Ph.D., Chair of HPU UGM. The seminar explained that HPU is part of a national university network working to create healthier campuses. It was also explained that through HPU, the academic community is expected to build self-awareness skills that make them more productive, resilient, capable of contributing meaningfully, and effective at strengthening protection and reducing health risks.

This was followed by a presentation on "Health Literacy Outreach" by the Coordinator of HPU UGM's Health Literacy Working Group, dr. Fatwa Sari Tetra Dewi, M.P.H., Ph.D. She stressed that accurate health information is essential to prevent misinformation, which can be achieved through critical thinking when making health-related decisions. Members of the academic community were encouraged to help spread accurate, easily understood information to those around them. UGM's Health Literacy initiative operates through three working groups: health monitoring and volunteerism; health education; and organizing health literacy efforts.

The seminar's final session covered the implementation of HPU at FH UGM, presented by Almonika Cindy Fatika Sari, S.H., M.A., the person responsible for HPU at the Faculty of Law.

Regarding the implementation of HPU UGM's eight working groups at the Faculty of Law, several activities have already taken place in support of the Healthy Campus Movement — including aerobics, yoga classes, basketball, sports communities, and outdoor/nature clubs (mapala) run by students. There's also Kantin Justicia, representing the Healthy Eating working group; the construction of a Wellness Center (Posbindu) on the 1st floor of Building IV, intended as a health center for the academic community; and outreach on Zero Tolerance for Violence, Bullying, and Harassment, led by the Law, Gender and Society unit together with LCDC FH UGM.

FH UGM is committed to advancing the Healthy Campus Movement launched by HPU UGM through Posbindu cadre training, targeting both education staff and students at the Faculty of Law. Workshops on mental health literacy are also planned, aimed at helping students better recognize their own potential and manage stress to boost productivity.

The “Health Promoting University Toward a Healthy Campus" Seminar closed with a sharing session alongside Ambassadors of HPU from the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) at UGM. The hope is that this event will energize the Faculty of Law's enthusiasm and commitment toward building a healthy, thriving campus.
