In February 2020, a team of students from the UGM Faculty of Law claimed First Place and Best Paper in the Scientific Paper Competition at the 7th Social Science in National Law Competition (SCIENCESATIONAL 2020), themed around the urgency of building cyber defense in Indonesia. The competition was organized by the Institute for Legal Studies at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (LK2 FH UI).
Team Hasyim Djalal, representing Universitas Gadjah Mada, secured First Place and Best Paper in the Scientific Paper Competition under the supervision of Faiz Rahman, S.H., LL.M. The UGM delegation comprised Muhammad Rafifnafia Hertianto, Senja Vidia Putri, Armita Tri Yuniasningrum, and Fajara Hasna Afina. The team was formed through a recruitment and training process run by the Forum for Legal Research and Writing (FPPH PALAPA) at the UGM Faculty of Law.
The competition served as a platform for stimulating critical thinking and generating ideas that are both progressive and solution-oriented in addressing social and environmental challenges. Each team was required to draft a paper in line with their chosen sub-theme, within the scope of cybersecurity and cyber resilience in Indonesia -- an area of national urgency where significant gaps remain in practice. Teams that advanced to the final round then presented their ideas and proposals before a panel of expert judges. This achievement is hoped to serve as a source of motivation and competitive spirit for other UGM Faculty of Law students to pursue achievement in both legal and non-legal fields, nationally and internationally.
