Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar from the Faculty of Law at UGM Serves as a Speaker at a Public Awareness Event on the Criminal Code at the Sleman City Police Headquarters

Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, S.H., LL.M., a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), was invited as a guest speaker at an event to disseminate information on Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), organized by the Sleman City Police. The event took place in the Hoegeng Hall at the Sleman City Police Headquarters and was attended by officers from the Sleman City Police and police stations throughout Sleman Regency.

During the forum, Dr. Akbar outlined the key innovations and core provisions of the 2023 KUHP, which serve as a crucial foundation for the reform of criminal law in Indonesia. He emphasized that law enforcement officers’ understanding of the new Criminal Code is crucial, given that the police are on the front lines of law enforcement. Through his presentation, Dr. Akbar not only strengthened the capabilities of police officers but also bridged the gap between the academic world and legal practice in the field.

The involvement of the UGM Faculty of Law, through Dr. Akbar, aligns with the agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), as this initiative promotes the creation of more professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement institutions. Second, SDG 4 (Quality Education), through the university’s role in transferring knowledge to government officials. Third, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), by ensuring more equitable access to justice through the implementation of modern and inclusive criminal law. Through this active role, the UGM Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to continue contributing to fair and sustainable national legal development.
