Sartika Intaning Pradhani, S.H., M.H., had successfully finished her public doctoral defense for doctoral promotion in Faculty of Law UGM with the research entitled “Adat Law Norm Making Process Regarding The Prohibition of Marble Mining and The Limitation for Akar Angin Harvesting (Usnea Barbata) in Mollo Indigenous Community, South Central Timor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province” on Wednesday (17/07/2024). In this doctoral promotor, acting as the Chief Examiner is Dahliana Hasan, S.H., M.Tax., Ph.D., as the Promoter is Dr. Sulastriyono, S.H., M.Si, as the Co-Promoter is Dr. Rikardo Simarmata, S.H. and the Examiner Members consisting of Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub&Int.Law., Ph.D., Dr. Agus Sudaryanto, S.H., M.Si., Dr. Wahyu Yun Santoso, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., Prof. Dr. Dra. Sulistyowati Irianto, M.A. (FH UI).
In this doctoral examination, Sartika delivered her reasoning for conducting a research on the adat law norm making in Mollo Indigenous Community. Previously, Sartika had conducted 2 researches and discovered an interesting phenomenon within Mollo Indigenous Community, which is the existence of the new adat law regarding the restriction of marble mining in 2000 and the limitation of akar angin harvesting in 2019. Following this novelty from the dissertation that was submitted, Sartika argued that adat law was existed due to the repeated process, however, there is a difference in that the formation of these two legal norms stems from the active reasoning of traditional functionaries who at that time did not yet have provisions regarding marble mining and the taking of akar angin.
In this public thesis defense, Sartika successfully defended her research with satisfaction grade and graduated with grade A. Thereby, it is announced that Sartika Intaning Pradhani, S,H., M.H. is the 271st doctoral candidate that have graduated from Faculty of Law UGM and the 6220th doctoral candidate that have graduated from Universitas Gadjah Mada.
