A delegation from the UGM Faculty of Law's Master of Notarial Law Program has brought home the Best Speaker award at Padjajaran Notarial Fair 2024, a prestigious notarial deed drafting competition held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Universitas Padjadjaran. The competition was organized by the Master of Notarial Law Program at the Universitas Padjadjaran Faculty of Law.
The UGM delegation consisted of four Master of Notarial Law students: Syifa Fachriah, S.H. (2022 cohort), Darwin Kohar, S.H. (2022 cohort), Dina Mila Prasasti, S.H. (2023 cohort), and Thoby Araya Kattsoff, S.H. (2023 cohort). They were accompanied by Mustofa, S.H., a practicing Notary, who served as their mentor throughout the competition.
Preparations began as early as January 29, 2024. Although the team prepared remotely through online study sessions, the preparation process ran smoothly. The delegates spent this time reinforcing their foundational knowledge of notarial deed drafting, familiarizing themselves with the various forms of deeds, and reviewing the full scope of regulations under the Law on Notary Positions (Undang-Undang Jabatan Notaris/UUJN). Guiding them through the entire journey was Notary and Land Deed Official (Notaris – PPAT) Mustofa, S.H., whose direction, mentorship, and encouragement proved invaluable.
The competition was structured in two stages: a preliminary round and a final round. In the preliminary stage, participants were tasked with drafting notarial deeds based on a given set of facts and circumstances (kasus posisi). The team — competing under the name "Notarius" — chose to prepare 14 deeds, including a Deed of Establishment of a Limited Liability Company (Akta Pendirian PT), a Deed of Establishment of a Commanditaire Vennootschap (Akta Pendirian CV), a Deed of General Meeting of Shareholders (Akta Rapat Umum Pemegang Saham/RUPS), a Power of Attorney (Akta Kuasa), a Deed of Loan Agreement (Akta Perjanjian Hutang Piutang), a Deed of Fiduciary Security (Akta Jaminan Fidusia), a Deed of Sale and Purchase of Machinery (Akta Jual Beli Mesin), and a legalized Power of Attorney, along with all supporting documentation. Additional materials, including warkah (deed supporting documents), key dates, and legal analyses (konstruksi hukum), were also prepared. The entire package took approximately two weeks to complete.
The final round was held at Universitas Padjadjaran and included the five highest-scoring teams from the preliminary stage. Participants received the case facts from the organizing committee before being given just 100 minutes to draft the deed minutes (minuta akta). Following the drafting session, each team presented its work before a panel of five judges. The UGM delegation delivered a confident and well-articulated presentation, successfully explaining the rationale behind the deeds they had prepared in both the preliminary and final rounds.
Their outstanding performance during the final interview session ultimately earned the UGM Master of Notarial Law delegation the Best Speaker award. A recognition that reflects the program's commitment to SDG 4 on Quality Education.
