Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.PrivateLaw, along with his student Theresia Averina Florentina (2022), were selected as one of the five participants in the Workshop on Fairness and Diversity Bias in AI-Driven Recruitment whose paper was published in the Scopus Q2 Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) proceedings managed by Springer.
This workshop is part of The 16th JSAI International Symposia on AI (JSAI-isAI 2024) organized annually by the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence (JSAI). The event was held in collaboration with the BIAS Project, led by Dr. Carlotta Rigotti and Dr. Eduard Fosch-Villaronga from the eLaw Center for Law and Digital Technologies Leiden, University. The purpose of this workshop was to facilitate practitioners, researchers and students to present their research on fairness and bias in AI-based recruitment processes. Topics covered included mitigating algorithmic bias, legal frameworks, and human rights considerations. Participants presented their research in the form of a scientific article, and discussed it in an interactive panel.
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, Jibril and Theresia presented a paper titled Governing AI in Hiring: An Effort to Eliminate Biased Decision in the Workshop. Followed on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 with an interactive panel discussing trustworthy AI, with presenters coming from various backgrounds such as journalists, academics, and students. The presentation of material by all presenters and the interactive panel discussion opened a space for discussion on fairness and bias in AI-based recruitment processes and provided active and informative insights.
