A delegation from FH UGM, representing the Constitutional Law Society (CLS) — consisting of Wahyu Aji Ramadan (class of 2020), Candyna Muthiah Bepa (class of 2020), Albert Suprayogi Ginting (class of 2021), Fitria Amesti Wulandari (class of 2021), and Haura Atthaya Salsabilla (class of 2021) — won 2nd Place in the Legislative Drafting competition at The 9th Sciencesational: Piala Prof. Erman Rajagukguk 2022, organized by the Institute for Legal Studies (LK2) at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
The theme of The 9th Sciencesational 2022 was "Unlocking the Potential of Financial Technology in Indonesia." The competition began with a legislative drafting document selection round involving 15 teams from law faculties across Indonesian universities. In the competition, students took on the role of legislators tasked with revising regulations based on legal theory, principles, and rules governing legislation, along with legal norms, standards, and practices relevant to drafting bills. The bill topic for this year's competition was "Developments in Financial Technology Regulation within the Draft Law for Strengthening the Financial Sector (RUU P2SK)."
From the selection round, five of the best submissions were chosen as finalists to present in person at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia, in Depok. The finalist teams came from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Padjajaran, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The final round consisted of two sessions: a 20-minute presentation of the Academic Paper (Naskah Akademik) and Draft Law (RUU), followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. In the final round, the UGM team secured 2nd Place, while 1st Place went to Universitas Sebelas Maret and 3rd Place went to Universitas Brawijaya.
Following this achievement, the FH UGM delegation expressed thanks to their supervising lecturer, Faiz Rahman, S.H., LL.M., as well as everyone who helped them prepare for the competition.
