The Faculty of Law of Universitas Gadjah Mada once again organized the Special Advocate Profession Education Program (Pendidikan Khusus Profesi Advokat/PKPA) for law graduates interested in pursuing careers as advocates. This program has been regularly conducted since 2008 in collaboration with the National Executive Board of the Indonesian Advocates Association (DPN PERADI). The 2016 PKPA program was divided into three periods. On Thursday (10/3), the first batch of PKPA 2016, which had commenced on February 22, 2016, was officially concluded. A total of 45 participants from various universities across Indonesia enrolled in the training program.

PKPA serves as the initial step toward becoming a professional advocate. Participants are still required to pass the advocate professional examination and complete a two-year internship before officially taking the advocate’s oath. This process aims to ensure and maintain the quality and integrity of the advocate profession. These remarks were delivered by Zahru Arqom, S.H., M.H.Lit., Vice Chair of the PKPA Organizing Committee for this year’s program. Arqom further explained that the committee would continue maintaining communication with participants and provide support, including preparation and practice sessions for the advocate examination. He also emphasized that the Faculty of Law UGM continuously strives to meet expectations by ensuring that PKPA provides comprehensive legal knowledge and sufficient professional training materials. “The committee hopes that all participants will succeed and become law enforcers who are not only professional but also possess strong moral integrity,” he added.

Dr. Sulastriyono, S.H., M.Si., Vice Dean for Research and Community Service of the Faculty of Law UGM, encouraged participants not to discontinue their interactions after completing the program. “Build networks,” he advised. He further explained that social networks could serve as valuable platforms for sharing knowledge, exchanging constructive criticism, and providing mutual support among future legal professionals. Upon completing PKPA, participants receive certificates issued by DPN PERADI, which can be used as one of the requirements to participate in the advocate professional examination scheduled for May.
