A total of 380 newly admitted undergraduate students of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), gathered on Saturday (30/7) to take part in the 2016 Pre-Training for Successful New Students (Pra-Pelatihan Pembelajar Sukses Mahasiswa Baru/PPSMB) UGM. Coming from various cities across Indonesia and abroad, the students participated in the pre-PPSMB as part of a series of activities welcoming new students. The main PPSMB program was held from 1–6 August 2016 and consisted of PPSMB Palapa at the university level and faculty-level PPSMB programs.
The FH UGM PPSMB was held on 3–4 August 2016 under the leadership of Fadhilatul Hikmah, S.H., LL.M. This year's program centered on integrity, a value expected to be embraced and practiced by all students throughout their university life. The theme was explored through a series of talk shows and discussions. One of the sessions, titled “Tips for Becoming an Active and Accomplished Student,” featured Tia Rosana and Wyncent Halim, FH UGM students who had achieved various accomplishments at both national and international levels. The program also featured constitutional law expert Dr. Refly Harun, S.H., M.H., LL.M., who shared his perspectives and motivation with the new students through a second talk show titled “Organic Intellectual.”
On the second day, Dr. Albertina Ho, S.H., M.H., Wahyudi Djafar, S.H., and R.R. Nurul Saadah Andriani, S.H., joined a talk show entitled “Personal Development and Career Opportunities.” During the session, Dr. Albertina Ho observed a declining interest among FH UGM students in pursuing careers in the judiciary. She therefore encouraged students to consider continuing their education and developing their careers in the field of judicial studies.
Beyond the talk shows and discussions, the new students also participated in a Tour de Campus to familiarize themselves with the university environment. They were introduced to FH UGM's academic services, as well as the autonomous and semi-autonomous student organizations and communities active within the faculty.
As one of the closing activities, PPSMB Integritas featured a mock trial illustrating the proceedings of a criminal court. The case centered on violence during student orientation. The one-hour simulation was performed largely by members of the Satria Paramartha community, providing new students with a practical introduction to the workings of criminal procedure and the legal system.
