A team from the UGM Faculty of Law has won the Best Paper award and First Runner-Up at the National Scientific Paper Competition (LKTIN) organized by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Mataram.
The LKTIN was held under the theme "The Challenges of Law Enforcement During a Pandemic" and organized in two stages: a paper submission stage, and a final stage in which qualifying finalists were required to present online and field Q&A questions. The final stage took place from November 27 to 30, 2020. After selection through to the final, 10 finalists from 8 universities across Indonesia advanced, including Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Kristen Indonesia, and IAIN Tulungagung.
The UGM Faculty of Law team for the LKTIN comprised Berliana Dwi Arthanti (2017) and Jauza Tsania Herdin (2017), with a paper titled "Applying the Green Banking Concept to Credit Restructuring Policy in the Pandemic Era as a Step Toward Building Back Better."
During the pandemic, the government has issued many economic policies, one of which is the credit restructuring policy during the pandemic, set out in OJK Regulation No. 11/POJK.03/2020 on National Economic Stimulus as a Counter-Cyclical Policy in Response to the Spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019. However, regrettably, amid the many economic policies issued during the pandemic, none has yet been oriented toward creating economic sustainability in harmony with environmental conservation.
Credit restructuring during the pandemic -- as a critical element of Indonesia's post-pandemic economic recovery, directly touching the business community that serves as one of the pillars of the Indonesian economy -- is hoped not only to focus on economic recovery, but to go further and create the conditions for better and more sustainable economic recovery and development that is integrated with environmental conservation. This hope can be realized through the application of the green banking concept to credit restructuring during the pandemic, which in turn could create a stronger economic recovery than before.
Throughout the process, from start to finish, the team received consistent guidance and support from their faculty supervisor, Veri Antoni, S.H., M.Hum., who steadfastly provided encouragement, advice, and constructive feedback.
