Strengthening Collaborative Synergy, UGM Faculty Of Law Discusses Extension Of Cooperation With Yogyakarta Class IIB Women’s Correctional Facility

Yogyakarta, 22 January 2026 – The Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), through the Legal Consultation and Legal Aid Center (PKBH), held a meeting with the Class IIB Women’s Correctional Facility of Yogyakarta (LAPUJA). The meeting took place at 09:00 WIB and was attended by Prof. Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL.M., M.A., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Information Systems of FH UGM; members of PKBH; and Mr. Jaka Suprastowo, Head of the Registration and Community Guidance Subdivision of the Class IIB Women’s Correctional Facility of Yogyakarta.

The meeting between PKBH FH UGM and the Class IIB Women’s Correctional Facility of Yogyakarta resulted in several crucial discussions. Beyond addressing new procedural rules, both parties actively discussed the provision of assistance to inmates, emphasizing the importance of participation and legal aid for correctional residents. Current issues concerning narcotics offenses, corruption crimes, and other criminal acts were also highlighted. The implementation of collaboration between the two institutions is inseparable from the integrated roles of various units, both within the faculty and among external partners. Through the implementation of legal counseling, FH UGM, through PKBH, is committed to realizing strong cooperation within a multiple-helix community service scheme in accordance with the values of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The expansion of the scope of cooperation was agreed upon as a measure to further strengthen professional relations between the institutions in the future.

The implementation of this program constitutes a concrete follow-up to points of sustainable development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through the implementation of legal counseling and relevant cooperation, both parties ensure the realization of SDG Goal 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and SDG Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals through continuous and effective collaboration.
