UGM Faculty of Law Advances Inclusive Campus with Improved Disability-Friendly Facilities

In pursuit of an inclusive and equitable campus environment for all members of its academic community, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) has continued to develop and improve disability-friendly infrastructure throughout the faculty. Facilities now in place include guiding blocks for visually impaired users, ramps as an accessible alternative to stairs for wheelchair users, accessible toilets that are wider and easier to navigate, and dedicated disability parking spaces located in a strategic position near the faculty's main entrance.

These facilities reflect FH UGM's commitment to ensuring equal access to all the faculty's spaces, services, and academic activities. They are not merely functional — they also stand as a tangible symbol of the university's commitment to the values of humanism, justice, and non-discrimination in higher education.

The initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes inclusive and equitable access to education for all; SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), which promotes equal opportunity regardless of physical or social condition; and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), by creating a campus environment that is safe, accessible, and sustainable for all users.

Through these steps, the Faculty of Law UGM demonstrates its commitment to building an academic space that is inclusive and welcoming to all — and to ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow without physical barriers. FH UGM hopes this initiative will inspire other educational institutions to continue expanding accessibility and realizing truly inclusive campuses for everyone.
