UGM Faculty of Law Holds Academic Counseling for New Students of the Class of 2025

The Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) held an Academic Counseling session for the incoming class of 2025 on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The event, which took place in the Auditorium of Building B at FH UGM, was attended by Academic Advisors (DPA) and all new undergraduate students.

This academic counseling session aimed to introduce the role of Academic Advisors to students from the very beginning of their studies, as well as to foster a close relationship and positive communication between students and their advisors. With a strong relationship in place, it is hoped that students will feel comfortable and open about discussing the various academic challenges they face.

To kick off the series of events, the program began with a session explaining and introducing the role of Academic Advisors (DPA), presented by the Chair of the Undergraduate Program, Dr. Wahyu Yun Santoso, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., together with the Program Secretary, Dr. Dian Agung Wicaksono, S.H., LL.M.

Moving on to the second session, the event continued with an academic counseling session led by Aisha Sekar Lazuardini Rachmanie, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psychologist, who presented on the main topic of “Healthy Communication and Relationships Between Students and Academic Advisors.” In her presentation, she emphasized the importance of building open, supportive, and mutually respectful relationships between students and their Academic Advisors as the foundation for success in the academic mentoring process. This session was moderated by Dr. Wahyu Yun Santoso and took place in an interactive format.

The event concluded with a discussion between the students and their respective Academic Advisors (DPA), serving as an initial forum for building personal and professional relationships. During this session, students were given the opportunity to share their expectations and discuss study strategies they could adopt while pursuing their education at the UGM Faculty of Law.

Through this activity, the UGM Faculty of Law reaffirmed its commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and proactive academic environment to foster students’ overall academic success.

This academic counseling initiative is also relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, the program supports SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing structured and personalized academic guidance to students so they can reach their full potential during their studies. Second, this initiative is linked to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, as the counseling aspect addresses students’ psychological well-being as they navigate the challenges of college life. Furthermore, the healthy interaction and communication between students and their academic advisors reflect the implementation of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering collaboration among the academic community to create an inclusive, supportive, and sustainable educational environment.
