Friday (17/5/2024), the Law Career Development Center (LCDC) successfully held the Pembekalan Calon Wisudawan Prodi S-1 Periode III TA 2023/2024. This event is a routine activity carried out by LCDC some time before the implementation of each graduation period at Universitas Gadjah Mada, aimed at preparing prospective graduates for the job recruitment process, informing them about career opportunities and challenges for law graduates, and providing tips and tricks for succeeding in the recruitment process. This time, it was held with the theme "From FH UGM to Your Dream Job #8: Career Opportunities for Law Graduates as Commercial & Transactional Lawyer”. LCDC invited an experienced speaker, Bhirawa Jayasidayatra Arifi, S.H., LL.M., to share his insights.
This event began with a speech by Adrianto Dwi Nugroho, S.H., Adv.LL.M., LL.D. as Deputy Dean for Academic, Student Affairs and Cooperation. He said that Bachelor of Laws graduates have very broad prospects in the field of Commercial and Transactional Lawyer. The next speech was delivered by Taufiq Adiyanto, S.H., LL.M as Director of Law Career Development Center (LCDC) FH UGM. Taufiq explained that the graduation briefing activities that are routinely held by LCDC are one of the efforts to maximize graduates of the Faculty of Law UGM Bachelor of Law in finding the appropriate career path.
Guided by Aisyah Adibah Hasmiar as the moderator, the event ran smoothly from start to finish. As an introduction, Bhirawa explained the main duties and functions of the profession discussed in this session: lawyers or advocates. He then elaborated on the various areas of specialization that lawyers can pursue. Next, he explained the workflow of a corporate lawyer and the qualifications required to become a transactional, corporate, or commercial lawyer. His presentation concluded with an overview of the candidate selection process and a brief account of his experiences working as a lawyer. The participants were highly engaged throughout the event, as evidenced by their enthusiasm during the Q&A session, which also marked the end of the event.
The implementation of this event is also a concrete manifestation of LCDC's commitment as one of the units at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada in realizing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the 4th and 8th points, which focus on Quality Education and Decent Work and Economic Growth.
