ALSA LC UGM’s Achievements in AIMC 2024

Students from the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) have the opportunity to participate in the ALSA International Mediation Competition (AIMC) 2024. AIMC 2024 is an annual academic competition aimed at utilizing mediation as the preferred medium for dispute resolution. This competition is a form of training and advocacy to develop skills in the legal profession, organized by ALSA International. This year, AIMC is hosted by the ALSA National Chapter Singapore, in collaboration with the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC).

Overall, this competition is divided into 4 stages: Preliminary Rounds, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Grand Finals. These stages last for 3 days, starting on Friday (August 2, 2024) to Sunday (August 4, 2024). The ALSA LC UGM delegation has participated in the offline competition at Singapore Management University and Drew & Napier LLC, Singapore. The delegation consists of 1 team containing 2 participants, namely Alya Manayra Kesa and Rashesa Zalika Ladita. Both delegations are also accompanied by 2 coaches, namely Olanda Naomi Adhira and Priskila Maharani Tobing.

At AIMC 2024, the ALSA LC UGM delegation won several awards, including 1st Runner-Up and the Most Effective Opening Statement in the Grand Finals Round. The delegation's participation in AIMC 2024 is expected to provide new knowledge and experience and serve as a learning platform for students from international universities to improve their mediation skills at the international level. AIMC 2024 is also expected to provide a platform for delegates to gain and share insights with participants from various countries. Furthermore, the awards the team has won are a feat to be proud of.
