Tuesday (27/02/2024), Nglaggeran Subdisctrict, Gunung Kidul, became the host for the legal counselling with the notion “Suluh Praja”. This counselling aimed to enhance the deeper knowledge on law for the people of the village, along with answering questions that often arise throughout their daily life. Through this opportunity, the speaker, Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, S.H., M.Si. and Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.PrivateLaw, provided the knowledge on the legal issue that often confused the people of the village.
One of the issues that has been discussed was regarding the licensing in land excavation. The participants were given the knowledge on the mechanism and the required licences. The offered solution was about the importance of obtaining the legal license before the land excavation to prevent the legal consequences that may possibly arise.
Peer-to-Peer Lending also became their main topic. The speakers highlighted the importance of having the legal lend agreement in the transaction. They also promoted mediation as alternative dispute resolution that is more beneficial than the litigation process.
They also did not miss the crime problem for the discussion. The people were provided with the knowledge on the legal process for the crimes, and what action that should be taken if they are involved in the police investigation. Moreover, this discussion also covered the problem of inheritance. The participants were given the illustration of the legal steps that can be taken to obtain the legal inheritance rights.
In solving the mentioned problems, the solutions that just given is important to understand the applicable legal procedure and obtaining the legal aid if needed. Mediation was also mentioned to be the most beneficial choice to settle the dispute instead of the litigation process that takes time and is costly.
“Suluh Praja” in Nglaggeran Subdistrict becoming the initial step to enhance both the legal knowledge for the participants and the life quality of the participants through the better legal knowledge. By this comprehensive discussion on their legal rights and responsibilities, hopefully that the participants and can maintain the justice and legal certainty in their daily lives. This is accordance with the 16th point of Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
