Monday (26/02/2024), Faculty of Law UGM and Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office held the Suluh Praja Legal Counselling in Ngentarkrejo, Kulon Progo. This counselling session was attended by several people of the village and led by the the Head of the Village, Sumardi, that gave the opening speech.
During the counselling session, the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office explained the function and duties of Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, along with the reporting mechanism to the High Prosecutor’s Office. Meanwhile, Dr. Agus Sudaryanto, S.H., M.Si from Faculty of Law UGM also explained the about the regulations on the village treasury land before and after the Regulations for the Special Regions. Here explained that regulations concerning land must be certified and coordinated with the local government. Afterwards, Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M. explained about Islamic inheritance law. This presentation was one of the most important part of this session. During Question and Answer session, the participants asked several questions regarding the land and the inheritance, including the submerged land. The speakers also answered the questions with informatively, prioritizing the coordination with several parties and emphasizing the importance of understanding the applicable regulations.
This entire discussion have contributed to the implementation of several Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) point, those are the 11th SDGs point on Sustainable Cities and Communities with providing them with informations about land regulations, and also the 16th point on Justice with educating the participants with their legal rights and responsibilities.
“Suluh Praja Legal Counselling in Ngentrakrejo Subdistrict was one of the solid step in empowering the people of the village through a better law understanding. We hope this session would carry out the concrete benefit for the participants in doing their daily lives,” said the representative of Faculty of Law UGM.
This counselling session affirms the commitment of FH UGM and Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office in supporting the development of law that is just and pro-community.
