On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the High Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Kejati DIY), successfully held the "Suluh Praja" Legal Extension event series at the Banjarharjo Village Office, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency, DIY Province. The "Suluh Praja" legal extension is an activity aimed at broadening public knowledge regarding legal issues that occur within society. The themes presented in this event included "Inheritance Law, Inheritance Disputes, and Amicable Inheritance Dispute Resolution," which were discussed comprehensively to provide legal insight into inheritance matters that frequently become issues for the community.
The event began at 08:00 WIB with the collective singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya. The event continued with opening remarks from the Head of Banjarharjo Village (Lurah), Mr. Susanto. Following the opening remarks, the event proceeded with a presentation on the Duties and Functions (Tusi) of the Civil and State Administrative (Datun) sector of the Republic of Indonesia Prosecutor's Office, delivered by Anang Zaki Kurniawan, S.H., M.H., and his staff as representatives of the Datun Team of Kejati DIY.

The event continued with the presentation of core materials by a team of lecturers from the UGM Faculty of Law, consisting of Dr. Harry Purwanto, S.H., M.Hum., Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M., and Herliana, S.H., M.Com.Law., Ph.D. The first topic presented was "Inheritance Disputes," delivered by Dr. Harry Purwanto, S.H., M.Hum., who generally introduced the concept of involving community leaders as village peace judges. The presentation continued with Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M., who comprehensively discussed "Islamic Inheritance Law," covering provisions for testators and heirs, as well as the principles of Islamic inheritance law. The session concluded with the theme "Amicable Inheritance Dispute Resolution" by Herliana, S.H., M.Com.Law., Ph.D., who systematically explained alternative dispute resolution methods, ranging from negotiation and mediation to arbitration.
The "Suluh Praja" Legal Extension activity successfully provided legal knowledge to the Banjarharjo Village community interactively, offering solutions to legal issues. The implementation of this activity is expected to support Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) regarding Quality Education by providing inclusive, fair, and quality legal understanding. Additionally, this activity is expected to align with Goal 16 of the SDGs regarding Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions through the creation of a peaceful village community and fair access to legal aid. Furthermore, this activity relates to Goal 17 of the SDGs, which requires institutional collaboration and partnerships to achieve shared goals.
