UGM Law School Delegation Wins First Place and Best Speaker at the 2025 Airlangga Law Competition

The delegation from the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University won first place in the 2025 Airlangga Law Competition (ALC) Debate Tournament. In addition, they also received the Best Speaker award among all participants. This UGM Faculty of Law delegation consisted of Karima Zahra Nurmayati (FH UGM ’24), Anika Minerva Pramono (FH UGM ’23), and Letisia Ortiez Anggriansyah (FH UGM ’23) as delegation members, and Talitha Rafa (FH UGM ’23) as the official. To win these awards, these students were trained under the guidance of the Speech and Law Debate Society (SPECIALITY) community, along with faculty members and alumni of the UGM Faculty of Law.

This legal debate competition was organized by Airlangga University under the overarching theme “Legal Reform Grounded in the Pillars of the Indonesia Emas 2045 Vision to Realize a Sovereign and Just Indonesia.” The competition was participated in by 16 teams from universities across Indonesia. The first stage was the preliminary round, held online. The subsequent stages—the semifinals and finals—were held in person at the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University. 

The motions debated covered legal issues in the fields of civil, constitutional, international, criminal, and environmental law. The UGM delegation successfully won victory points and took first place. The announcement of their victory was made at the closing ceremony on Sunday (May 11, 2025).

This achievement aligns with Gadjah Mada University’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education and Goal 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Through this legal debate competition, students not only hone their academic and critical thinking skills but also contribute to building legal awareness and promoting a fair and inclusive national legal system reform. The collaboration between students, faculty, and alumni also reflects the principle of partnerships to achieve the goals (SDG 17).

In light of this achievement, the SPECIALITY delegation from the Faculty of Law, UGM, would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this competition. The success of the Faculty of Law, UGM, team reflects the students’ strong dedication and the collaboration between faculty members and alumni at the Faculty of Law, UGM.
