The International Class (Master of Laws) is an international class within the Master of Law Study Program (Jakarta Campus), Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada. This class was developed as part of the Faculty of Law UGM’s efforts to strengthen the internationalization of legal education, enhance the competitiveness of graduates, and expand academic networks with universities and legal institutions at both national and international levels. The Master of Law (LL.M.) Program at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada is designed to meet the need for experts in various fields of law that have significant relevance to Indonesia, both in the national and global scope. The program offers a range of learning modules specifically designed to broaden knowledge and enhance students’ ability to analyze law in the Indonesian context, while also contributing to the development of law in a global context.
With an (LL.M.) degree, graduates are prepared to have the competencies to fill various strategic positions in the legal field across diverse institutions, ranging from multinational corporations to international organizations.
The International Class (Master of Laws) is established to meet the need for human resources with a master’s qualification in the field of business law with international insight and exposure. The development of the business world and the increasing complexity of legal issues in the fields of corporations, banking, capital markets, business competition, investment, intellectual property rights, and international trade require professionals who have a strong understanding of the law while also being able to view legal issues from a global perspective.
The International Class (Master of Laws) is designed with a curriculum development based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and refers to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) Level 8. Learning is directed at developing an in-depth understanding of law, the ability to analyze current and global legal issues, an interdisciplinary approach, and an understanding of various legal systems and perspectives.
In its implementation, the International Class (Master of Laws) is also directed to expand partnerships with universities, research institutions, and legal organizations both domestically and abroad. This program encourages the involvement of international academics and practitioners, publication in reputable international journals, and the development of academic collaborations such as dual degrees, student exchanges, and other forms of student mobility.
Developing a master’s level legal education with an international outlook, emphasizing mastery of business law, the ability to address current and global legal issues, and an orientation toward the advancement of legal science and societal needs.

Developed using Outcome Based Education (OBE) and refers to KKNI level 8. Focuses on business law competencies with international perspective, global legal issues, and interdisciplinary approach. Learning through face-to-face, synchronous & asynchronous online, guidance, and seminars.
Evaluation follows each course’s learning plan. At the end of each semester, Final Examination (UAS) assesses students through in-class written tests or take-home assignments.
Contains provisions on academic implementation, learning process, assessment, research, thesis preparation, and other academic regulations for International Class (Master of Laws).
The process of determining student graduation after fulfilling all academic requirements set by UGM and Master of Laws Study Program (Jakarta Campus).
Covers Academic Calendar, Study Plan Input (KRS), course weeks, and reading week, along with General Academic Rules on class attendance, examinations, and student conduct.
Each student is assigned an individual thesis supervisor based on relevant expertise. Students must register Thesis in their KRS and have passed or be concurrently taking Research Methodology.
