About the Converence

The Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is honored to host the Asian Law and Society Association (ALSA) 2025 Annual Meeting. This year’s theme, “Law and Justice in Asia: Embracing Diversity, Enhancing Equity,” aligns with our commitment to fostering legal scholarship that promotes inclusivity and social justice across diverse societies.​

Yogyakarta, known as the “City of Education,” offers a rich cultural and intellectual environment, making it an ideal setting for this significant gathering. We invite scholars, practitioners, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on how legal systems in Asia can adapt to pluralism, protect marginalized voices, and enhance access to justice.

Venue

All sessions will be held at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. The venue offers state-of-the-art facilities, including:​

  • Auditorium B: Capacity of 300 persons for opening, gala dinner, and closing sessions.​
  • 10 Classrooms: Each accommodating 50 persons for panel sessions, equipped with computers, projectors, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, audio-visual equipment, and whiteboards.

Participants and Sessions

  • Estimated Participants: 250–300​
  • Concurrent Sessions: 10 sessions with 4–5 papers each

Accommodation Options

A variety of accommodations are available near UGM to suit different budgets:​

  • Luxury Hotels: Hyatt Regency, Royal Ambarrukmo (IDR 1,500,000–2,500,000/night)​
  • Mid-range Hotels: Swissbell Hotel, The Phoenix Hotel (IDR 750,000–1,200,000/night)​
  • Budget Hotels: University Club (UC) UGM Hotel, MM UGM Hotel (IDR 350,000–600,000/night)​

Shuttle services will be arranged between select hotels and the conference venue.

Social and Cultural Events

  1. Welcome Reception: Evening of December 15, 2025, at the Faculty of Law UGM Auditorium.​
  2. Conference Banquet: December 17, 2025, featuring Indonesian cuisine and cultural performances.​
  3. Excursions: Optional day trips to cultural sites such as Borobudur Temple, Prambanan Temple, Magelang, Kaliurang, and Keraton – Taman Sari.​
