This took shape in the second \"Law and Politics\" guest lecture, held on Thursday, October 4, 2021, on the theme \"<em>How Far do Transnational Economy and Its Interest Influence the Law-Making Process.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The session ran for 2.5 hours, from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, and featured academics specializing in law and economics from both Indonesia and abroad: Rimawan Pradiptyo, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Faculty of Economics and Business, UGM) and Professor Chester Brown, LL.B., B.C.L., Ph.D. (Faculty of Law, University of Sydney). The event opened with remarks from Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M., Head of the Master of Laws Program, and was moderated by Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M.(HR), Ph.D.<\/p>\n<p>In the first session, Rimawan Pradiptyo discussed the various intertwined economic interests at play in Indonesia's law-making process. Prof. Chester Brown then examined the impact of economic theory on Indonesia's investment policy, along with the country's historical and current approach to negotiating international investment agreements. The session drew strong engagement from students and the public, reflected in the critical questions raised for the speakers. At the close of the lecture, Andy Omara, S.H., M.Pub&amp;Int.Law., Ph.D. \u2014 who teaches the related course \u2014 responded to the material presented and the discussion between the audience and speakers.<\/p>\n<p>The Master of Laws Program remains committed to educating the wider public and building understanding of how law and politics intersect, particularly within Indonesia's law-making process.
