The speakers were Christopher Casson, J.D., and Prof. M. Hawin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., with Fadhilatul Hikmah, S.H., LL.M., serving as moderator.
The event was attended by Herliana, S.H., M.Comm.Law., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources; Dr. Agus Sudaryanto, S.H., M.Si., Secretary of the Master of Law Program; and Faishol Adib, M.A., representing AIFIS. Participants included students from the Master of Business Law and Master of Law programs at the Faculty of Law UGM, as well as invited guests from other universities, including Universitas Diponegoro and Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga, along with representatives of various UGM postgraduate student organizations.

Christopher Casson, J.D., is a legal practitioner who previously worked as an area manager at Amazon.com, one of the world's largest retail companies. He currently resides in Indonesia and teaches at Universitas Islam Indonesia. The second speaker, Prof. M. Hawin, is a professor at the Faculty of Law UGM who has been teaching since 1990, specializing in Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Commercial Law, and Business Law.

In his presentation, Christopher Casson, J.D., discussed “How State Law Can Benefit Business Law.” He began by explaining the concept of state law, or laws enacted and enforced by the state, as well as the scope of business law. He further explored the relationship between state law and business law, particularly its influence on standards of efficiency and legal certainty. He explained that neither Indonesia nor the United States follows a single legal system exclusively, but rather incorporates elements of different legal systems in governing their respective countries.

Prof. M. Hawin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., presented on “Does Indonesia Need Reservations When Ratifying the CISG, and Should Chapter V of the Indonesian Civil Code on Sales and Purchases Be Revised?” He first provided an overview of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). He explained that Indonesia had not yet ratified the CISG, although proposals for its ratification had been discussed. He also compared provisions under the Indonesian Civil Code with those of the CISG from several perspectives. In concluding his presentation, Prof. Hawin argued that Indonesia did not need to ratify the CISG at that time, while Chapter V of the Indonesian Civil Code should still be revised to better accommodate the principles contained in the CISG.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, followed by a group photo and the presentation of certificates to the speakers and moderator by Hasanuddin Ismail, S.H., Chairperson of KMMH FH UGM, and Zulfahmi, S.T., Chair of the organizing committee. KMMH FH UGM also presented a souvenir to AIFIS, represented by Faishol Adib, M.A., as a token of appreciation for the collaboration between AIFIS and KMMH FH UGM.
