Legal Outreach and Social Service Activities by MIH UGM Jakarta in Jatinegara<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of its commitment to one of the pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, the Master of Legal Studies (MIH) Program of Universitas Gadjah Mada Jakarta Campus organized a legal outreach program addressing legal issues commonly encountered in the community. The activity was held on Thursday, 27 September 2018, in Jatinegara District, at Jl. D.I. Panjaitan Kav. 8, Cipinang Cempedak Subdistrict, East Jakarta.<\/div>\n

The MIH UGM Jakarta Campus identified the need for legal outreach concerning land disputes, particularly those involving inherited land, grants, waqf, eigendom verponding, and land disputes in general. The program also addressed criminal offenses, particularly fraud and\/or embezzlement, narcotics-related offenses, domestic violence, and theft. These two areas were considered particularly relevant because such legal issues are closely connected to and frequently occur within the community.<\/p>\n

The legal outreach aimed to provide practical legal knowledge to civil servants working within Jatinegara District, subdistrict officials within its administrative area, as well as neighborhood association leaders (RW and RT), youth organization representatives, and community leaders. The program focused on the legal aspects of land disputes and general criminal offenses.<\/p>\n

In addition to the legal outreach, as a form of concern for communities living around the UGM Jakarta Campus, the Keluarga Mahasiswa Magister Ilmu Hukum (KMMIH) also organized the distribution of basic food packages to underprivileged communities across eight subdistricts in Jatinegara District. A total of 150 food packages were distributed, with the hope of helping ease the financial burden of the recipients.<\/p>\n

The legal outreach was conducted through an open lecture delivered by academics from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The speakers included Dr. Yulkarnain Harahab, S.H., M.Si. (Islamic Law specialist); Rafael Edy Bosko, S.H., M.I.L. (Agrarian Law specialist); I Gusti Agung Made Wardhana, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D. (Environmental Law specialist); and Sigid Riyanto, S.H., M.Si. (Criminal Law specialist). The legal outreach consisted of two sessions presented by the speakers and concluded with a question-and-answer session with the participants.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
