The program, which had been held over the previous two weeks, was organized by the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM). PKPA serves as an initial step for participants preparing to take the advocate examination, which was scheduled to take place approximately one month later. Dozens of participants from various regions across Indonesia took part in the program, which was organized in cooperation with the National Leadership Council of the Indonesian Advocates Association (DPN Peradi).

Zahru Arqom, S.H., M.H.Lit., Deputy Chair of PKPA UGM, emphasized the importance of maintaining communication between the organizers and participants even after the program had ended. As a member of PERADI, Arqom also offered to assist participants after the program, including in preparing strategies for the upcoming advocate examination. “Study, study, and study. Diligent study is the key,” he advised the participants.
As one of the organizers of PKPA UGM, Arqom also explained that several fundamental competencies are essential for aspiring advocates. These include legal knowledge, practical legal skills, listening, reading, writing and speaking skills, as well as legal research involving legislation, legal sources, and legal events. “Professionalism and morality are also major concerns for advocates,” he told the participants.

Hersona Bangun, S.H., S.E., AK., BKP., CA., one of the participants in the third cohort of PKPA UGM, expressed his hope that the program could be followed by further initiatives. He also hoped that PERADI would provide information regarding internship opportunities for advocates outside the PKPA program.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sulastriyono, S.H., M.Si. reminded participants not to become complacent with the knowledge they had gained during the PKPA program. “My hope for all participants is that you will not be satisfied too quickly with the knowledge you have gained during this PKPA program,” he said.
According to Sulastriyono, participants’ skills and competencies could be further developed through practical activities related to advocacy. The two-week program also provided participants with important values for their future professional careers.
“Maintain your commitment and loyalty to UGM because, sooner or later, after graduating you will become lawyers. Do not let problems arise later and have those problems come from graduates of the PKPA UGM advocate program,” said the Vice Dean for Research and Community Service.
As the event came to a close, Sulastriyono also emphasized the importance of maintaining communication as part of the FH UGM community. As members of the same academic family, alumni are expected to maintain their relationships with one another and remain connected to their alma mater.
