The agreement was signed by Prof. M. Hawin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., Dean of FH UGM; M. Ismak, S.H., M.H., Chairperson of AAI; and Jandri Onasis Siadari, S.H., LL.M., Secretary General of AAI, at the FH UGM Dean's Office Meeting Room. The cooperation primarily focuses on the implementation of the Special Professional Education for Advocates (Pendidikan Khusus Profesi Advokat/PKPA).

Through the PKPA program established under this collaboration, the two institutions aim to better prepare prospective advocates with stronger legal knowledge, practical skills, and professional ethics. Unlike conventional PKPA programs, which are generally structured as short courses, the program developed by FH UGM and AAI is intended to be positioned as higher education in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

“PKPA is not a course, but a form of higher education specifically designed as professional education,” said Efendy H. Purba, S.H., M.H. The Head of AAI's Special Professional Research Division explained that AAI had developed a curriculum in which participants, referred to as students, would receive both an academic degree and a professional advocate certificate upon completion of the program.

FH UGM welcomed AAI's initiative, particularly given the faculty's existing Master of Litigation program, which focuses on legal education and advocacy. Andi Sandi Antonius T.T., S.H., LL.M., Vice Dean for Cooperation and Alumni Affairs at FH UGM, explained that the program developed by AAI would later be integrated with FH UGM's academic program, combining academic learning with practical training.

“We plan to incorporate the PKPA into the Master of Litigation program,” he explained.

In addition to PKPA, the cooperation also opens opportunities for joint research. Andi added that internship programs for lecturers and students would also be explored as part of the collaboration between the two institutions.
