On Tuesday, 6 July 2021, the Faculty of Law of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) and the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI) signed a cooperation agreement for the implementation of the Special Advocate Profession Education Program (PKPA).
\nThe agreement was signed virtually by Prof. Dr. Sigit Riyanto, S.H., LL.M., Dean of FH UGM,
\nand Dr. Luhut M.P. Pangaribuan, S.H., LL.M. and Imam Hidayat, S.H., M.H., Chairperson and Secretary General of PERADI, respectively. The agreement is valid for a period of three years
\nfrom the date of signing.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the Dean of FH UGM emphasized that both institutions are strategic partners that share parallel visions and missions in advancing the rule of law.
\nThrough this cooperation, both parties are committed to delivering PKPA in accordance with high standards of quality and educational feasibility, including the development of an up-to-date curriculum, the provision of qualified instructors, and adequate educational facilities and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The curriculum has been carefully designed to cover foundational legal subjects as well as litigation and non-litigation procedural law. The foundational component includes topics related to the legal profession, the role of advocates both individually and within professional organizations, and the professional code of ethics.\nThe program will be delivered by experienced academics and legal practitioners with extensive expertise in their respective fields. The commitment to maintaining educational quality, relevant curriculum content, competent instructors, and proper facilities reflects the shared goal of FH UGM and PERADI to ensure the successful implementation of PKPA. This commitment aligns with the statement made by the Chairperson of PERADI\u2019s National Executive Board during the signing ceremony, who stressed that PKPA should focus on improving the quality of the legal profession rather than merely increasing the number of advocates.<\/p>\n
Both institutions firmly believe that a well-implemented PKPA serves as a crucial stage in producing advocates who are professional, competent, and uphold the highest standards of integrity.<\/p>\n
