The delegation of the Business Law Community (BLC), Universitas Gadjah Mada, has earned a standout achievement, claiming First Place and the Best Submission award at the National Mediation Competition \u2014 The 3rd LAPS SJK Law Fair 2026, organized by the Financial Services Sector Alternative Dispute Resolution Institution (Lembaga Alternatif Penyelesaian Sengketa Sektor Jasa Keuangan\/LAPS SJK).<\/p>\n
The delegation, comprising Dhea Praja Gupta (Team Leader), Shelina Theodora, Fayyaza Naira Hafidz, Ghefira Mustika Putri, and Alfarizi Rona Putra Setiana demonstrated their ability to analyze legal issues, draft submissions, and apply dispute resolution strategies through the mediation mechanism. The competition was held under the theme \"Strengthening Trust and Protection in the Financial Services Industry through Effective Non-Litigation Dispute Resolution\", centering on the strengthening of trust and protection in the financial services sector through non-litigious dispute resolution.<\/p>\n
The competition presented a case study involving a financial services sector dispute between a client and a securities trading intermediary company, relating to discrepancies in trading instructions and share transactions. The issues encompassed the validity of the transactions and the liability of each party. In addressing this case, the BLC UGM delegation developed a mediation strategy that took into account the interests of the parties, legal certainty, and principles of justice.<\/span><\/p>\n Throughout the preparation and capacity-building process, the delegation was supported by coaches and practitioners, including Irawan Sapto Aji, Nathan Radot Zudika Parasian Sidabutar, Jeremy Kevin Silaban, M.J. Raymond (Head of Legal, BNI Sekuritas), Herliana (UGM Lecturer and LAPS SJK Mediator), and Daniel Valentino Manik (Assegaf Hamzah and Partners).<\/p>\n The First Place and Best Submission achievement represents a tangible contribution by Universitas Gadjah Mada students to the development of competencies in the field of alternative dispute resolution, particularly within the financial services sector.
