The discussion was open to researchers and volunteers of the Research Center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The event featured two discussion facilitators, Muhammad Ryandaru Danisworo, S.H., LL.M. and Annisa Ayuningtyas, S.H., LL.M., who presented qualitative research findings on the experiences of Indonesian students who became victims of human trafficking through overseas internship schemes, particularly within the Ferienjob program.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During the session, the facilitators mapped out the recruitment patterns and modus operandi exploited in trafficking cases disguised as internship or part-time work programs abroad, and highlighted the vulnerability of students as a group prone to victimization due to limited information, oversight, and inadequate legal protection throughout the recruitment and placement process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The discussion also addressed the psychological and social impacts experienced by victims, as well as the importance of strengthening early detection mechanisms, education, and legal assistance for students before participating in similar programs in the future.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Through this forum, the researchers hoped to gain constructive input from participants to enrich the research findings, while fostering collective awareness of the importance of protecting students from trafficking practices disguised as international internship programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The session also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education by raising students\u2019 awareness of human trafficking risks and the importance of legal protection; SDG 5 on Gender Equality by addressing gender-related vulnerabilities and exploitation; SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth by promoting safe, fair, and exploitation-free internship and labor mobility practices; and SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by strengthening education, early detection, and legal protection mechanisms for students.
