On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), through its Legal Consultation and Aid Center (PKBH) unit, in collaboration with the High Prosecutor's Office of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Kejati DIY) and the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Kanwil DJP DIY), successfully held the \"Suluh Praja\" Legal Counseling event at the Canden Village Hall, Bantul Regency. This event aimed to increase legal awareness and address various empirical issues faced by village officials and residents in Canden Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entering the core session of the counseling, the first presentation was delivered by Ms. Yusnita Ritonga, S.H., M.H. and Ms. Nimas Setyaningrum, S.H., representing Kejati DIY. They discussed in depth the role, duties, and functions of the Prosecutor's Office in assisting governance administration at the village level. The presentation then continued with representatives from Kanwil DJP DIY, who provided essential material on tax obligations to demystify public perceptions regarding tax administration, which is often considered complex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussion was further enriched by Mr. Anugrah Anditya, S.H., M.T., a Tax Law Lecturer at the UGM Faculty of Law, who presented strategic insights on Land and Building Tax (PBB) as well as the legality and taxation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The session concluded with Mr. Virga Dwi Efendi, S.H., M.H., who thoroughly analyzed the Rights and Obligations of Village Officials, providing clear legal boundaries and foundations for village apparatus in running the local administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants' enthusiasm was highly evident during the Q&A session. One resident voiced concerns regarding the tax reporting process, which is often perceived as overly complicated, thereby reducing public awareness, and asked about the consequences and sanctions if tax reporting misses the deadline. Furthermore, Mr. Wawan, representing the village officials, raised several crucial field issues, including the legal protection of village officials, local entrepreneurs' fear of MSME taxes, and transparency in tax collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responding to these various issues, the speakers provided comprehensive, regulation-based solutions. Regarding the protection of village officials, Kejati emphasized absolute compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and stated the readiness of the Civil and State Administrative Law division (Datun) to provide legal assistance. DJP also clarified that the \"negotiation\" of tax bills is actually a legal mechanism involving the submission of objections or requests for penalty reductions as regulated by law, which in fact reflects transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
