The Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), received a working visit from the Special Committee of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) regarding the discussion of the Draft Law on International Civil Law (RUU HPI) on Wednesday (June 17, 2026). Held at the Auditorium of Building B, this activity is part of the synergy between legislative institutions and the academic community to enrich the substance of the draft law through scientific studies and perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, Annisa Syaufika Yustisia Ridwan, S.H., M.H., a lecturer in the Civil Law Department at FH UGM, served as a speaker and presented academic views on various aspects of drafting the RUU HPI. The involvement of FH UGM academics reflects the faculty's commitment to making a tangible contribution to the development of national law, particularly through relevant scientific studies that align with societal dynamics and global legal developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quoting the DPR RI website, the Deputy Chair of the Special Committee on the Draft Law on International Civil Law (HPI), Prof. Dr. Yasonna H. Laoly, S.H., M.Sc., Ph.D., stated that the process of absorbing aspirations is an essential part of legislative formation. Input from various stakeholders is expected to enrich the substance of the RUU HPI, which will later be discussed further in the DPR RI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This working visit exemplifies FH UGM's contribution to supporting the development of national law through academic studies and evidence-based input. Furthermore, FH UGM's involvement in the policymaking process is also in line with the commitment of higher education institutions to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 concerning Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
