Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., lecturer at the Faculty of Law Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM), was invited as an academic respondent at the IKAHI National Seminar titled \u201cSentencing in the 2023 Criminal Code and the 2025 Criminal Procedure Code: The Implementation of Non-Custodial Sentences and Measures in Indonesia\u2019s Criminal Justice System.\u201d The seminar was part of the 73rd anniversary celebration of the Indonesian Judges Association (IKAHI) under the theme \u201cTrusted Judges, Prosperous Society\u201d and was held on Tuesday (21\/4\/2026) at the Supreme Court Building in Jakarta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the seminar, Dr. Fatahillah Akbar presented academic perspectives on the implementation of non-custodial sentencing, the protection of defendants\u2019 rights, and the importance of legal certainty in applying the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code. FH UGM\u2019s participation in this national strategic forum reflects the university\u2019s commitment to supporting a more humane, restorative, and justice-oriented criminal justice system in Indonesia. This contribution aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through strengthening fair and accountable legal institutions, as well as SDG 4 (Quality Education) through academic contributions to legal literacy and capacity building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
