The Faculty of Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FH UGM) signed two strategic cooperation agreements on Thursday, February 12, 2026 \u2014 one with the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia (BPSDM Kementerian Hukum RI) and another with the Association of Criminal Law and Criminology Lecturers (Asosiasi Pengajar Hukum Pidana dan Kriminologi\/ASPERHUPIKI). The signing ceremony took place in Room V.3.1 and was attended by Dahliana Hasan, Dean of FH UGM; Gusti Ayu Putu Suwardani, Head of the BPSDM; and Fachrizal Afandi, Chair of ASPERHUPIKI. The ceremony formed part of a joint workshop organized by the three institutions, with a primary focus on strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although both agreements are grounded in the same commitment to strengthening education, research, and community service, their substantive focus differs. The partnership between FH UGM and ASPERHUPIKI centers on developing the quality of Criminal Law and Criminology teaching, with the goal of strengthening academic networks and supporting the implementation of national criminal law reform \u2014 in particular, the new National Penal Code (KUHP Nasional). Planned activities include academic consultations, legal studies, policy recommendation drafting, and the organization of seminars and scientific workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the partnership between FH UGM and the Ministry of Law's BPSDM is directed at human resource development and the integration of academic and institutional practice. The collaboration aims to strengthen the capacity of Ministry of Law personnel while providing applied learning opportunities for students. Implementation will encompass student internship programs, the development of competency assessment instruments, and integrated learning system development through workshops, Training of Facilitators, and the establishment of learning communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This partnership reflects FH UGM's concrete contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the improvement of collaborative and practice-based legal learning; SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) through support for national criminal law reform and the strengthening of state apparatus capacity; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by affirming the importance of synergy between universities, academic associations, and government institutions in building a more responsive, professional, and just legal system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
