Faculty of Law Universitas Gadjah mada (FH UGM) team has once again achieved a proud accomplishment on the international stage at the University of Cebu \u2013 Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (UC\u2013KAS) International Environmental Moot Court Competition 2025, held in Cebu City, the Philippines. At this prestigious competition, which took place from October 18\u201322, 2025, the FH UGM delegation successfully brought home five awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FH UGM delegation consisted of Rasya Assegaf (class of 2024), Kyra Ersa (class of 2024), Nathanael Saskara (class of 2023), and Aliyka Gewang (class of 2023). In the competition, the UGM Faculty of Law delegation won five awards, namely: Finalist (2nd Place), Spirit of UC\u2013KAS Award, Best Oralist in the Final Round\u2014Kyra Ersa, 2nd Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds\u2014Rasya Assegaf, and 4th Best Oralist in the Preliminary Rounds\u2014Kyra Ersa. This achievement would not have been possible without the guidance of the coaches and mentors: Prof. Dr. Heribertus Jaka Triyana, S.H., LL. M., M.A., Linda Yanti Sulistiawati, S.H., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Sabina Kirana Zildji, who provided academic support and intensive training from the preparation stage through to the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UC\u2013KAS International Environmental Moot Court Competition is an international mock trial competition focused on issues of international environmental law. In the 2025 edition, a fictional case titled \u201cQuestions Relating to Protection of Indigenous Peoples, Rights of Nature, and Forest Biodiversity\u201d challenged participants to address complex issues regarding the protection of indigenous peoples, the rights of nature, and forest biodiversity within the framework of international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This achievement also demonstrates the Faculty of Law at UGM\u2019s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Student participation in this competition aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening academic capacity, research skills, and critical thinking regarding global issues. Furthermore, the competition\u2019s topics\u2014which focus on the protection of biodiversity and indigenous peoples\u2014support SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 15: Life on Land, particularly in advocating for environmental conservation and the sustainable use of natural resources. Furthermore, student participation in an international mock trial forum that emphasizes respect for human rights and legal integrity also reinforces SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The success of this UGM Faculty of Law team proves that dedication, hard work, and synergy among students, faculty, and alumni can yield achievements that not only bring pride to the university but also have a positive impact on the global agenda in the fields of law and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
