On Tuesday (October 21, 2025), the UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor\u2019s Office, successfully held a \u201cSuluh Praja\u201d legal outreach event at the Margosari Village Office in Pengasih Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region. This legal outreach program aimed to provide legal insights and knowledge to the attendees\u2014village officials and the surrounding community\u2014regarding common legal issues. This edition of \u201cSuluh Praja\u201d focused on the theme \u201cAlternative Dispute Resolution and Waste Management\u201d to offer additional legal insights into dispute resolution options that can serve as solutions for legal disputes, as well as the legal aspects of waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began at 9:30 a.m. WIB with a group singing of the national anthem, \u201cIndonesia Raya,\u201d followed by opening remarks by Danang, the Head of Margosari Village. The event continued with a presentation on the primary duties and functions of the Civil and Administrative Law Division (Datun) of the Attorney General\u2019s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered by a team from the Datun Division of the Yogyakarta Special Region High Prosecutor\u2019s Office. Next, a legal education session was delivered by two guest lecturers from the Faculty of Law at UGM: Dr. Harry Purwanto, S.H., M.Hum., who presented on the topic \u201cAlternative Dispute Resolution\u201d to provide legal insights regarding various non-litigious methods of resolving legal disputes\u2014including consultation, negotiation, mediation, conciliation, and arbitration\u2014each of which offers distinct advantages over litigation-based dispute resolution through the courts. The next session was led by Dr. Rr. Dinarjati Eka Puspitasari, S.H., M.Hum., who presented on \u201cWaste Management,\u201d emphasizing the importance of implementing waste management practices in accordance with applicable legal regulations. All speakers\u2014both from the DIY Provincial Attorney General\u2019s Office and faculty members of the UGM Faculty of Law\u2014actively participated in a question-and-answer session with village officials and local residents who were in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentations by all the speakers were delivered in an interactive and engaging manner, facilitating productive discussions. The lecturers also answered participants\u2019 questions clearly and offered practical solutions. It is hoped that this legal outreach program will support the realization of SDG Goal 12\u2014to promote responsible consumption and production\u2014and SDG Goal 16\u2014to promote peace, justice, and strong institutions, starting at the village government level\u2014as well as strengthen partnerships to achieve better outcomes in line with SDG Goal 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
