On Wednesday (October 29, 2025), the UGM Faculty of Law, through its Legal Aid Consultation Center (PKBH), in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Class IIB Women\u2019s Correctional Facility, successfully held a legal education session. This legal outreach program aimed to provide legal knowledge to the participants\u2014the inmates\u2014regarding common legal issues. The session focused on the themes \u201cLegal Protection for Working Women\u201d and \u201cBusiness Licensing for Individuals Starting a Business\u201d to provide legal insights regarding their rights as female workers and the procedures for obtaining business licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began at 9:30 a.m. WIB with the singing of the national anthem, \u201cIndonesia Raya.\u201d It then continued with opening remarks by the Head of the Yogyakarta Class IIB Women\u2019s Correctional Facility, Mardiati Ningsih, A.Md.Ip., S.Sos., M.H. Next, presentations were delivered by Dwi Haryati, S.H., M.H., a lecturer from the Department of Administrative Law, and Susilo Andi Darma, S.H., M.Hum., a lecturer from the Department of Civil Law. The first presentation, titled \u201cBusiness Licensing for Individuals Starting a Business,\u201d was delivered by Dwi Haryati, who explained the process of obtaining a business license through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system. Next, the second presentation on \u201cLegal Protection for Working Women\u201d was delivered by Susilo Andi, who explained regulations regarding maximum working hours, menstrual leave, maternity leave, and miscarriage leave for female workers. All the speakers actively participated in a question-and-answer session with the inmates. Most of the questions focused on the differences in legal entities for OSS licensing and issues related to women workers\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentations by both speakers were delivered in an interactive and engaging manner, leading to a productive discussion. The guest lecturers also answered participants\u2019 questions clearly and provided practical solutions. It is hoped that this legal outreach program will contribute to achieving Goal 8 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\u2014Decent Work and Economic Growth\u2014and Goal 16\u2014Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
