Students in the Master\u2019s Program in Notarial Studies at the Faculty of Law, UGM, conducted a field visit to the Kulon Progo Regency Land Office on Thursday (March 2, 2025). The activity was attended by 26 students enrolled in the course \u201cElectronic Transactions in Notarial Practice,\u201d accompanied by the program coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit was part of an experiential learning initiative aimed at providing firsthand insight into the mechanisms of land services and administration within government agencies. Held in the conference room of the Kulon Progo Regency Land Office, the students received a comprehensive presentation from representatives of the relevant agency regarding the land registration process and the legal aspects involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The material presented covered four main topics. First, the legal basis for electronic certificates as part of electronic services and digital transformation in the land sector. Second, land registration procedures, including initial land registration as well as the maintenance of physical and legal data. Third, the role of Land Deed Officers (PPAT) in the registration process, including their functions, prohibitions, as well as their duties and responsibilities in drafting deeds. Finally, various issues that arise in the registration of PPAT deeds were also discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), through the implementation of practice-based learning methods that strengthen the professional competencies of notary students. Additionally, this visit contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by introducing digital innovations in the land administration system to make it more transparent and efficient. From a governance perspective, this activity also contributes to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by fostering an understanding of an accountable and equitable land law system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Field experiences such as this are expected to broaden students\u2019 perspectives on land administration practices and bridge the gap between academic theory and professional realities in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
