Central Jakarta, 25 September 2025 \u2014 From Tuesday (23\/09\/2025) to Thursday (25\/09\/2025), the Faculty of Law, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its Natural Resources Governance Studies (NRGS), in collaboration with PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PT PGN Tbk), successfully conducted the first batch of its executive legal training program titled \u201cLegal for Non Legal for Executive\u201d at the Sinergi 8 Building, Central Jakarta. This program represents a strategic partnership between UGM Faculty of Law and PT PGN Tbk in providing legal education and training, particularly in business law, for PT PGN Tbk\u2019s senior and upper-middle management (BoD-1 & BoD-2) as well as the Boards of Directors of subsidiaries and affiliates with non-legal backgrounds, aimed at strengthening their business decision-making capacity. The training consisted of 12 sessions, running from 08:00 to 17:00 WIB daily, and was delivered by a combination of distinguished academics, legal practitioners, and PT PGN Tbk\u2019s internal legal team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program commenced on Tuesday (23\/09\/2025) with opening remarks from Prof. Dr. Marsudi Triatmodjo, S.H., LL.M., representing the Faculty of Law UGM and serving as Chair of NRGS. \u201cThrough this training, I hope the executives will not only become bonus theoreticus\u2014strong in theory\u2014but also bonus practicus\u2014reliable practitioners. Law is not only a science to be studied but also an art to be applied,\u201d Prof. Marsudi remarked. A welcoming address was then delivered by Mr. Johannes Parlindungan, Division Head of Quality Management & Professional Certification at PT PGN Tbk, who emphasized the importance of equipping PGN\u2019s management with legal knowledge to support strategic decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first session introduced \u201cIntroduction to Legal Studies\u201d by Prof. Dr. Ari Hernawan, S.H., M.Hum., Professor of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law UGM, followed by \u201cFundamentals of Law\u201d in the second session. These sessions provided participants with essential legal foundations. Business law topics were then introduced, with Prof. Dr. Drs. Paripurna, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M., Professor of Business Law at the Faculty of Law UGM, delivering the third and fourth sessions on \u201cCapital Market Law\u201d and \u201cLegal Due Diligence and Know Your Customer for Business Partners.\u201d Day one also featured interactive discussions and case studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second day (24\/09\/2025), sessions five and six were led by Prof. Dr. Sulistiowati, S.H., M.Hum., Professor of Business Law at UGM, covering \u201cCorporate Law\u201d and \u201cGood Corporate Governance.\u201d From session seven onwards, practitioners took the lead. Mr. Muhtar Ali, S.H., LL.M., MCIArb., Founding Partner of Muhtar Halim & Partners Law Office, presented \u201cLegal Risk Management\u201d in session seven and \u201cLegal Case Analysis, Audit & Investigation\u201d in session eight. Each session combined theoretical insights with practical business case studies, fostering engaging discussions between participants and speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final day (25\/09\/2025) began with session nine by Mr. A.M. Alfridijanta (New York attorney\/UK solicitor), International Legal Consultant at PT PGN Tbk, on \u201cUS & UK Business Laws (Common Law).\u201d This was followed by session ten presented by Ms. Marie Siti Mariana Massie, Division Head of Legal Compliance & Governance at PT PGN Tbk, covering \u201cAffiliated Transactions, Material Transactions, Conflict of Interest Transactions, and Information Disclosure.\u201d Sessions eleven and twelve focused on dispute resolution, delivered by Dr. Didik Sasono Setyadi, S.H., M.H., Supervisory Board Member of the Indonesian Energy Dispute Arbitration Board (BASE). These sessions explored \u201cNon-Litigation Dispute Resolution\u201d and \u201cLitigation Dispute Resolution,\u201d equipping participants with comprehensive strategies for managing legal disputes in business contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conclusion of the training, participants expressed high appreciation for the program. One participant noted, \u201cAll the instructors were highly competent, and the delivery of materials was engaging. I gained valuable insights into the legal aspects essential for business operations. This training provided me with a new perspective on the importance of legal foundations in every decision-making process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing non-formal yet practical education for non-legal corporate executives. It also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by enhancing managerial capacity to foster responsible business practices. Furthermore, the collaboration between UGM Faculty of Law and PT PGN Tbk reflects the implementation of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening synergy between academia and industry in building transparent, sustainable, and law-abiding business governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
