The UGM School of Law has once again achieved outstanding success at the national level. Students from the UGM School of Law secured first place in the National Essay Competition held as part of the 13th anniversary celebrations of the Constitutional Watch Community (KPK) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The competition, themed \u201cOptimizing Democratic Principles and Upholding the Constitution Through the Implementation of Constitutional Court Rulings,\u201d attracted participants from various universities across Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This achievement was earned by Aldhienta Ashra Rafela (Chair), Valhallanay Isba Asafah, and Hafidh Amirul Huda, members of the Class of 2023 at the UGM Faculty of Law. With their essay titled \u201cInterim Elections as a Constitutional Solution for Separate Elections to Realize Democratic Reform Following Constitutional Court Decision No. 135\/PUU-XXII\/2024,\u201d the delegation successfully impressed the panel of judges through sharp analysis, comprehensive arguments, and solution-oriented ideas in addressing the constitutional issues raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition was fiercely contested from the manuscript selection stage through the final round. Out of dozens of participants, the delegation advanced as three finalists and subsequently delivered a compelling performance during the essay presentation session before the panel of judges. The quality of their delivery and mastery of the subject matter were key factors in securing first place. This success serves as tangible proof of the academic quality and dedication of UGM Law School students in expanding their understanding of constitutional law and strengthening a culture of literacy among the younger generation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, this achievement aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, through ideas that support the strengthening of transparent and accountable legal institutions. From an educational perspective, student participation in national-level academic competitions also supports SDG 4: Quality Education, by fostering analytical, critical, and innovative skills among the younger generation. With this victory, it is hoped that more students will be motivated to continue creating, competing, and making positive contributions to the advancement of knowledge and the progress of the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
