This time, the Three Minute Thesis featured the thesis titled \u201cDisparities in Religious Court Judges\u2019 Rulings Regarding the Status of Conventional Life Insurance Funds as One of the Objects of Dispute in Islamic Inheritance Cases\u201d by Sakti Oktasari, with Dr. Khotibul Umam, S.H., LL.M., serving as her thesis advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The findings of the study on the first research question revealed disparities in Religious Court rulings regarding life insurance proceeds in Islamic inheritance cases. The second research question indicated that the principle of insurable interest in insurance law is not yet aligned with the principles of ijbari and direct heirs; therefore, for the sake of legal certainty and justice, life insurance proceeds should ideally be regarded as joint property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Three Minute Thesis <\/em>is a concrete manifestation of the commitment of the administration and students of the Notarial Studies Master\u2019s Program at the UGM Faculty of Law to improving the quality of education, which is the fourth point in the Sustainable Development Goals <\/em>(SDGs). This is achieved through efforts to disseminate legal knowledge in the field of notarial studies, specifically to encourage policymakers to align the principle of insurable interest<\/em> with Islamic inheritance law so as to prevent lawsuits from rightful heirs who are not listed in the policy.
