On Wednesday (August 27, 2025), the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM), through its Center for Legal Consultation and Assistance (PKBH), held a legal outreach event at the Class II Special Juvenile Correctional Facility (LPKA) in Yogyakarta. This event was part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education\u2014specifically community service\u2014and also represented FH UGM\u2019s contribution to strengthening inclusive rehabilitation institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event featured two faculty speakers: Dr. Dra. Dani Krisnawati, S.H., M.Hum., from the Department of Criminal Law at FH UGM, and Muhammad Jibril, S.H., M.PrivateLaw., from the Department of Civil Law at FH UGM. Dr. Dani presented on \u201cDeradicalization of Gangs Among Adolescents,\u201d aiming to provide an understanding of the dangers of gangs and their impact on adolescent development. Meanwhile, Muhammad Jibril addressed the topic \u201cWise Social Media Use for Adolescents: Legal Consequences of Online Lending and Online Gambling\u201d to raise awareness about the legal risks of online activities, particularly online lending and gambling, which are prevalent among the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outreach materials were presented in an interactive manner, fostering lively discussions between the speakers and participants. Questions were answered clearly and practically, enabling participants to gain a more contextual understanding of the law as it relates to their daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In line with the global agenda, this legal education program also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Through this outreach program, the Faculty of Law at UGM contributes to strengthening legal awareness and creating a safer, more peaceful, and more inclusive environment for adolescents currently in correctional facilities. Additionally, this initiative reflects the role of higher education in ensuring fair and equitable access to legal information for all segments of society, including children in correctional facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
