The workshop was held on Monday (August 11, 2025) in Room III.1.1 at FH UGM. Four keynote speakers participated in the workshop: Dr. Dra. Dani Krisnawanti, S.H., M.Hum.; Sri Wiyanti Eddy, S.H., LL.M. (HR)., Ph.D.; Rangga A. Dachlan, S.H., LL.M., M.Phil., D.Phil.; and Bernadus Purnawan, S.S. The purpose of this workshop was to provide guidance to students in selecting potential thesis topics that meet the standards of the MIH Program for discussion during the Thesis Proposal Workshop on August 12\u201315, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The presentation of materials was divided into four sessions, with the first session opened by Sri Wiyanti Eddy, S.H., LL.M. (HR), on the topic \u201cReflections on Graduate-Level Legal Research Methodology and Presentation of the MIH Program\u2019s Thesis Writing Guide.\u201d This theme focused on enhancing students\u2019 interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary skills and the use of mixed methods in selecting thesis topics and writing their theses. The second session was led by Dr. Dra. Dani Krisnawanti, S.H., M.Hum., on the topic \u201cEstablishing Collaborative and Effective Intellectual Relationships with Academic Advisors.\u201d This session focused on the application of soft and hard skills that students must possess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Next, in the third presentation by Rangga A. Dachlan, S.H., LL.M., M.Phil., D.Phil., on the topic of \u201cResearch and Scientific Writing in Accordance with Graduate Education Standards, Lessons Learned, and Expectations for the Research Proposal Workshop.\u201d This session emphasized that students should not only focus on novelty but also on the contributions their work can make to society. The final presentation was delivered by Bernadus Purnawan, S.S., on the topic \u201cSystems and Procedures for Submitting Proposals, Organizing Seminars, and Final Thesis Examinations.\u201d This session focused on the challenges students face when writing their theses and how they can overcome these challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/law.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/08\/MIH-penulisan-tesis-2-18x12.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">This Thesis Writing Preparation Workshop was attended by approximately 120 participants, consisting of Master of Law students from the Faculty of Law, UGM\u2014both in the regular program and the international program (LLM)\u2014who are currently taking the Thesis course this semester. This in-person event was met with great enthusiasm from participants, who actively engaged in discussions and asked questions regarding the presentation of materials for thesis preparation. The presentation of materials and interactive discussions provided new insights into the procedures for writing a high-quality thesis and a better understanding of the challenges involved in the thesis-writing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">This workshop also has strong relevance to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By enhancing students\u2019 capacity for high-quality legal research that benefits society, this activity supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to comprehensive and interdisciplinary learning. The application of inclusive and participatory principles throughout the mentoring process also contributes to SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), given the participation of students from diverse social, economic, and gender backgrounds. The focus on research oriented toward justice, transparency, and good governance aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Furthermore, the synergy among students, faculty, and the institution in the preparation of scholarly works serves as a tangible manifestation of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Through this event, the Master\u2019s Program in Law at Gadjah Mada University (FH UGM) hopes to continue fostering open communication and collaboration among students and faculty members to promote productive interactions that support the production of high-quality theses, as well as to continue facilitating discussions among students regarding the progress of their thesis research or student journals.
