A delegation of students from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) achieved outstanding success at the Fasih Law Fair 2025 Legislative Drafting Competition, organized by the Faculty of Law at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah. The UGM team, consisting of Rachma Ananda Sulaiman (chairperson), along with members Ghefira Mustika Putri, Afanin Fariq Fajriya, Meira Davina Jasmine, and Eva Selvia Putri Arlista, successfully won first place as well as the award for best draft in this prestigious competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the theme \u201cDraft Law on the Prevention and Regulation of AI in Social Life,\u201d the competition challenged participants to design regulations responsive to the increasingly rapid and complex development of artificial intelligence (AI). The UGM team submitted a draft law titled \u201cArtificial Intelligence,\u201d which was deemed capable of addressing contemporary legal challenges in the governance of cutting-edge technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition consisted of two stages: a document screening round held online from May 10 to June 8, 2025, and a final round held in person on June 24, 2025, in Tulungagung, East Java. The final presentation delivered by the UGM delegation successfully outperformed teams from various other national universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This victory is not only a source of pride for the UGM academic community but also reflects the younger generation\u2019s commitment to developing adaptive and future-oriented regulations. By analyzing issues and translating them into legislative drafts, the students have demonstrated that legal education can serve as a strategic tool in addressing global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This achievement by the UGM team also aligns with the university\u2019s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the development of students\u2019 academic competencies and leadership skills, as well as SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by encouraging students\u2019 active role in creating a fair and inclusive legal framework. Furthermore, the concept of digital technology governance, such as AI, also addresses SDG 9 (Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through collaboration among higher education institutions that drives regulatory solutions to global technological challenges.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
