Dr. Muhammad Fatahillah Akbar, S.H., LL.M., a lecturer in Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law, UGM, served as a speaker at an informational session on Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP). The event was organized by the Legal Section of the Yogyakarta City Police at the 3rd floor of the Yogyakarta City Police Headquarters on Tuesday (May 20, 2025). This outreach session was an internal activity for the Yogyakarta City Police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This outreach event was organized in accordance with several regulatory frameworks, including Regulation of the Indonesian National Police No. 2 of 2021, which governs the organizational structure and operational procedures at the district and sector police levels. Specifically, Article 23, Paragraphs (1) and (2), outline the duties of the legal section at the district police level, emphasizing the importance of legal education and awareness among law enforcement personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Akbar\u2019s participation in this event underscores the vital role of education in fostering a comprehensive understanding of the law, particularly within an ever-changing legal landscape. His expertise in criminal law and his commitment to education align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, specifically in promoting quality education (SDG 4)<\/strong>; enhancing legal understanding and the rule of law (SDG 16)<\/strong>; and building global partnerships for sustainable development (SDG 17)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event also serves as a platform to foster collaboration between academic institutions and law enforcement agencies. The outreach campaign for the new Criminal Code is part of the Yogyakarta City Police Department\u2019s work plan for 2025. Its primary goal is to increase legal awareness and compliance among law enforcement officials.
